Gas Marketing Code of Conduct
The Gas Marketing Code of Conduct 2022 regulates how gas retailers advertise gas to customers throughout Western Australia.

LPG Safety for Your Home or Business
LPG is a safe, convenient, and affordable fuel when used correctly. Gas cylinders are tested and inspected to meet strict Australian safety standards. To help detect leaks, an odourant is added to LPG, giving it a strong smell similar to rotten eggs. If you notice this smell, switch off your gas cylinder immediately, as LPG is flammable. In some cases, “odorant fade” can reduce the smell, so always rely on safe handling practices rather than smell alone. To minimise risk, ensure your LPG cylinders are stored upright, in a well-ventilated space, and handled according to manufacturer instructions.

LPG Bushfire Safety
Bushfires and extreme heat can pose risks to LPG cylinders, storage tanks, and equipment. Before a bushfire threat, keep the area around your cylinders clear of flammable materials, ensure they are upright and secure, and turn off valves. As a bushfire approaches, leave cylinders outdoors in a safe position and shut off all appliances. After the danger has passed, do not reconnect or use cylinders until they have been inspected by your gas supplier, as heat damage may not be visible but could compromise safety. Gas systems and appliances should also be checked by a licensed professional before use.
